Narrative Poetry
- Poems that are supposedly sung with musical accompaniment.
- Express the poet’s or the person’s feelings and emotion.
Lyric Poetry
- Usually perform onstage.
- Can be sung or spoken.
Dramatic Poetry
- A dramatic character who is the speaker in the poem.
- A _____ is not always the poet.
Persona
Poetry is written in lines, oftentimes the lines are divided into groups called stanzas.
Form
The use of languages that appeals to the five senses: Visual, auditory, gustatory, tactile, and olfactory

Sound Patterns
using words that imitate the sound of what they refer to.
Onomatopoeia
repetition of initial sounds
Alliteration
repetition of vowel sounds within neighboring words.
Assonance
The repetition of similar or identical sounds at the end of peotic lines.
Rhyme
the pattern of the rhyme placed at the end of each line or stanza in a poem
