Similes - “voices raised like fists tattooed with curses” – He compares their voices to fists
which suggests that the way they speak and what they say is violent and angry
Personification –“ lamppost and pillarboxes step aside”. It suggests that the guys are so tough that even objects move out of their way because they are intimidated or afraid of the lads
Metaphor (comparison) – “cornered young they live their lives in corners” – suggesting that they are trapped by their circumstances that they do nothing except hang around and this means they will never amount to anything

Who is your favorite character in the outsiders
My favorite character in the outsiders is ponyboy Curtis because he’s brave, selfless and intelligent, we see his bravery and selflessness when he risks his life to go save Johnny and the child on the fire on jay mountain and we see his intelligence due to his academics
