Q

Ozymandias

A

-“I met a traveller from an antique land” - he learned about it second hand which shows that he doesn’t go to find it and doesn’t care about it either though it was once shown as a great statue - traveller is from an antique land which shows that the thirst for power and rule was as old as time and the poet wants to move to a modern world

-“nothing beside remains.” Caesura - makes nothing the subject and makes reader feel emptiness and how the great rule was all for nothing - he is forgotten a victim of time and nature has destroyed him to nothing - his power fell like when war happens - loosing side is nothing but remains and he lost the war of time or nature and left to crumble

-“sculptor well those passions read” - uses emotive language (love) to show the emotion of the statue - ozymandius loved to rule and lived to order , known as his passions - nothing better for him to do

-“king of kings” - he is the best of the best , no one can rule him and the power he holds is the mightiest of anyone else’s - everyone before him was weak and Unworthy that he even rules him - even though he says he is the best he is now just a pair of legs left deserted in an island for nothing
