Q

loaded gun

A
  1. suppressed female emotions
    “hunt[s] the doe”
    “He” = rage
The imagery of a passive and static “Loaded Gun” could suggest her bottled emotions and communicate the womens’ dormant rage in their time
anaphora of “And now We” could create a childish voice
alliteration of ‘m’ and ‘l’ in “emphatic thumb” and “longer live” contrasts with violent imagery
  2. anger can control us / irrational
    “carried Me away”
verb “carried” is a very passive tone=control anger exerts over her shows her lack of agency
increasingly more devoted to him; she “guards My Master’s Head” = sense of powerlessness
    “longer live/He longer must - than I -”
  3. empower humanity and provide us with strength and purpose
imagery “Loaded Gun, “owner” = rage
differentiating between the persona and her rage, the poem explores the influence rage has on the body.
“stood - a Loaded gun- In Corners”
    “sovreign”
“To foe of His - I’m deadly foe -
“stood” “carried” to present tense “We roam” “We hunt”
from unnoticed and passive to assertive and domineering.
She “guards” this “Master”; protects and cares for this rage that empowers and emancipates her/ pleasure + confidence
