Pnuematics 1 Flashcards
Air has to do what to do useful work?
Be under pressure and be able to flow.
Flow rate in pneumatics is measured in what?
CFM (cubic foot per minute)
Useful work will result from a pneumatic system when?
Compressed air is allowed to covert potential energy to kinetic energy.
Where must pressure be controlled in a pneumatic system?
At the compressor, after air receiver tank.
Pressure switch does what?
Senses tank pressure. No flow path.
Safety relief valve does what?
Regulates maximum tank pressure.
Normally non passing.
Pressure regulator does what?
Controls flow down stream of receiver tank. Normally passing.
What are 3 things we control with a valve?
Pressure.
Direction of flow.
Rate of flow.
4 ways a DCV is controlled.
Manually, mechanically, electronically, pilot pressure.
A 2 way valve does what?
Gives on / off function.
Most common way to send a two way valve to its at rest state?
With a spring.
A three way valve does what?
Pressurize and exhaust one actuator port.
A actuator is?
A cylinder or motor.
4 way valve is?
1 pressure port , two actuator ports, one or more exhaust ports. ( can use for speed control)
What is a common application of a 4 way valve?
To cause powered reversible motion and powered motion of double acting cylinders.
