Ch 7 Pnuematics Flashcards
How does a check valve work?
Valve that flows in only one direction.
What psi is the spring for the poppet on a check valve?
5 PSI
What motion does a cylinder make?
Straight line Linear motion.
What is the most common pneumatic actuator?
Cylinder
A motor creates what type of motion?
Rotary motion.
What are the two ends of a cylinder?
Rod end / blind end.
What is the main seal on a cylinder that keeps pressure in?
Primary seal.
What will lead to premature failure in a cylinder.
Bad wiper seal.
What are the four types of cylinder mounts?
Clevis mount
Trunnion mount
Side lug mount
Flange mount
What is a single acting cylinder?
One threaded port / powered motion in one direction.
What is a double acting cylinder?
Two threaded ports / powered motion in both directions.
What is a single rod double acting cylinder?
Rod extends from one end.
What is a double acting double rod cylinder?
Rod extends from both ends.
Ex. Steering on a fork truck.
What are two types of load on a cylinder?
Thrust load - extension of rod. ( disadvantage is buckling (breaking of Rod) or deflection (bending of rod) )
Tension load - retraction of Rod. ( disadvantage is threads rip off. Piston Separates form Rod. )
What is shock?
Sudden stop ( kinetic energy into concussion)
