- sputum culture, viral serology, PCR
- bronchoalveolar lavage or bronchoscopy (if immunocompromised)
- CXR = cavitating, pleural effusion, multilobar/lobar
HA/aspiration severe treatment
amoxicillin + metronidazole + gentamicin
if penicillin allergic,
co-trimoxazole + metronidazole +/- gentamicin
HA/aspiration non severe treatment
amoxicillin + metronidazole
if penicillin allergic,
co-trimoxazole + metronidazole
