Pneumatics And Hydraulics Flashcards
What is the difference between a pneumatic and hydraulic system?
Pneumatic systems use compressed gas to transfer force.
Hydraulic systems use liquid to transfer force.
What hydraulic system uses a valve and reservoir.
The hydraulic jack
How does a one-way valve work?
The one-way valve is pushed to the right when oil I forced from the cylinder on the left to the cylinder on the right. When the oil is not being pumped through from the left, the spring forces the valve back to. The left and thus prevents any oil from flowing back into the cylinder on the left. To allow the oil to flow back again to the cylinder on the left ,the release screws turned. When the screw is turned, it pushes the one-way valve to the right and allows oil to flow past it.
How does a hydraulic jack work?
As the handle is moved up and down or backwards and forwards, the input piston pumps oil from the reservoir through the one-way valve into the main cylinder, to lower the vehicle the one-way valve is released and the vehicles weight forces the oil back int the reservoir.
