Crews familiar with major risks on thier ground.
Information gathered & recorded in accordance with PN800 Management of Operational Risk Information

Fire lift
Rising main
Sprinkler system
Ventilation system
Fire Alarm
Hazardous process plant and equipment
7(2) D visits
LFB premises location boxes
What hazards are associated with AFA’s?
Exposure to noise, proximity and duration Hazardous materials in a fine mist Trips and Falls CO2 discharge Intruder smoke cloaking system Intruder Alarm Risk of physical assault Corrupt a crime scene
What on arrival tactics are there when attending AFA’s?
Attend notified access point
Liase with the responsible person
If fire confirmed request full PDA
Locate fire alarm panel
Identify evacuation plan for building
Force entry to unoccupied premises
Only leave premises if exhausting all available sources of information
Contact control for full PDA fif force entry
Develope and implememt a plan
Identify hazardpus processes or substances
On arrival, what must you not do?
Do not delay information gathering while waiting for a responsible person to attend the RVP
What must be worn while attending AFAs?
Ear protection (PN 503)
What must the IC rely on when premises are not occupied?
Information from pre planning and 7(2) d visits Information from control Availability of key holder Fire Alarm panel visible from outside Visable signs of smoke or fire
Who is responsible for resetting the alarm panel?
Responsible person It is not brigades responsibility Brigade can reset if no responsible person is present All information recorded before reset If no fire exists Leave form F4202
While would the IC silience the Alarm?
If it was detrimental to brigades operations
Responsible person present
Maybe negative to evacuation
What advice can be given to the occupier?
Identity cause
Advice given to prevent re occurrence

When would a SFSO need to be requested?
Unaccaptable risk to occupants
Fire saftey deficiencies or failures.
What does the Fire and Rescue Services act 2004 permit FF’s to do?
Enter premises or a place, by force if necessary, without the consent of the owner or occupier of the premises or place if they reasonably believe fire to have broken out or to be about to break out, for the purpose of extinguishing or preventing the fire or protecting life or property.
What are the benefits of following guidance procedure for AFA’s?
Will improve the safety of Operational crews, improve fire safety for occupants of the premises and reduce the LFB resource commitment to unwanted fire signals from automatic detection systems.
