Prophase

A
  • The chromosomes coil and become shorter and fatter
  • Protein fibres form a spindle in the cell

Q

Anaphase

A
  • Centromere divides
  • Spindle fibres shorten and pull one pair of sister chromatid to opposite poles of spindle.
  • We can now refer to chromatids as chromosomes

A
  • A nuclear envelope forms around each set of chromosomes
  • Chromosomes become long and thin
