Ridolfi had signed a letter to declare he was Catholic and would lead the rebellion if he was supported by Phillip II.

A

Cenred on the murder of Elizabeth I.
Similar to Throckmorton Plot, the Duke of Guise would invade England with 60,000 men and put mary on the throne.

How did the Babington Plot break down

A

Babington wrote to mary about the plot. However Mary was being closely watched so her letters were getting intercepted by Francis Walsingham.

As soon as he had enough information and the 6 catholics that would attempt the assassination they were arrested.

They were hanged and there were too many plots supposedly involving Mary to believe that she was innocent.

Mary was found guilty and sentenced to death
