plots Flashcards

Q

PLOT DESCRIPTION:
What is the metric?
What are the units?
How was this measured? Data range and variability?
INTERPRETATION:
What spatial trends do you see? Where are the peaks and dips? What is causing those trends?
CONTEXTUALIZING:
How is this related to kelp abundance? Can you relate this to VI/BC?

Q

3 types of plots

A

multi-variate
- starts w 2 variables (XY plot)

temporal (time)
- like population size of otters against years

spatial (across space)
- x axis is a linear spatial transect
– like kelp canopy
- could hv one like the California coastline (z)

Q

other drivers of change and outcomes (kelp example)

A

ocean warming
- thermal stress
- physical damage
- increased biofouling (from organisms that live epiphitically on kelp)
- increased turbidity (decreased recruitment and growth)
