Plot
A series of events that make up a story.
Exposition
Introduces character, setting & the inciting moment.
Inciting Moment
The action which starts the story. Introduces the major conflict of the story.
Rising Action
The series of events developing the conflict which leads to the climax.
Climax
The turning point of the story (Greatest tension, suspense, excitement).
Falling Action
A series of events which lead to the resolution of the conflict.
Resolution
The main conflict is resolved. The story ends.
Flashback
When writing a work of fiction, an author can take the reader out of the present story and jump into an earlier time period in a character’s life.
Foreshadowing
Foreshadowing serves to hint at future events without giving too many details.
