What is a patrician?
patricians were wealthy Romans that had a powerful line of descendants.
What were plebians?
Plebeians were poor, townsman or even poorer rural workers.
what were the jobs that plebeians undertook?
Bakers, farmers and Craftsman
What were the jobs patricians undertook?
government positions, religious positions, made laws, owned land and were generals over the army.
When did the “conflict of orders” happen?
from 494 BC to 287 BC.
Why did the “conflict of orders” happen?
The revolt occurred because Rome was ruled by aristocrats that abused their privileges.
What was the outcome of the “conflict of orders”?
it granted plebeians political equality with patricians.
What was the law of the 12 tables about?
It was about the beginning of a new way to approach laws, which were now passed by the government and written down, so all citizens were treated equally.
Who were the Tribunes?
the Tribunes were soldiers commanders. The tribunals rose with their administrative and logistic roles.
who did the law of the 12 tables affect?
It affected the plebeians by making them protected from patricians that abuse them.
Who were Equities?
These men descended from farmers who had provided the money and horses for the military service in the early Roman army. Overtime they became Rome’s wealthy merchants and businessmen.
