Play-making techniques Flashcards
Name the play-making techniques
Researching, brainstorming, improvising, scripting, editing, rehearsing, refining
Researching
To find out, search out or investigate a particular concept or topic (eg. searching on the internet, reading theatre/drama books, interviewing people)
Brainstorming
Brainstorming can be done by discussion and/or on paper (eg. mind map)
Improvising
To act spontaneously with little or no prior preparation. The actor/s must think and work on their feet to make up what happens. It often involves role play and can be useful in developing characters and generating new material.
Scripting
The process of developing a script.
Editing
The rearranging or removing scenes or parts of scenes to make the overall performance more coherent.
Rehearsing
This refers to the main period of development.
Refining
To refine is to make small, sometimes subtle changes to improve the overall effect of a performance.
