What is Plato’s analogy of the cave?
Plato created a metaphor of the analogy of cave as philosophers trying to escape how other people see reality. There is a cave and there are these prisoners in that see shadows of what they think is the outside world. They see things that scare them so they do not try to investigate. One of them leaves the cave to try and find out what the outside world is like. He leaves the caves and finds that the outside world is nice and pleasant. He comes back to try and get them to come with him, but they kill him in fear.
What do the prisoners represent in the analogy of the cave?
The prisoners represent ordinary people that have discovered true knowledge.
