Q

What happens when an oceanic crust collides with a continental crust?

A

The oceanic crust is dragged down into the mantle where it’s recycled into mantle. It’s called subduction. And deep trenches form in the seabed when a subduction happens e.g. Marianas Trench.

Q

What happens when a transform plate boundary happens?

A

It causes a line on the earths surface called a fault line, e.g the San Andreas fault line in California

Q

What happens when plates get stuck while a transform plate boundary’s happening?

A

They build up great pressure until they slip, releasing the pressure. It causes a very bad earthquake, e.g the 1994 Northridge earthquake along the San Andreas fault line.
