A thick band of tissue that connects the calcaneus to the toe.
Most common cause of heel pain.

Affects 10% of general population

Can been seen in younger due to athletes/ active

Risk factors
A
Occupation - long standing or walking
Athletic
Bio mechanical - flat feet, high arches, abnormal walking patterns, tight calf’s
Age
Diabetes

Presentation
A
Pain - sharp, stabbing pain in heel or arch of foot
Tenderness - medial aspect of heel
Stiffness
Limited ankle dorsiflexion

Prognosis
A
Good - physical therapy, lifestyle modifications
