Plant System Interactions Flashcards
What are the system parts of the plant transport system?
Phloem and xylem (vascular system)
In order to survive why must its different systems interact?
It needs to know how to respond to its environment in order to survive
How do the system parts interact in the leaves, stems, and roots of the plant to benefit the plant?
Responsible for the movement of water minerals and food to all parts of the plant
Explain how the reproductive, transport, and response system interact to enable a plant to grow and reproduce
Reproductive: responsible for continuation of the plant
Transport: moves water and food
Response: respond to their surroundings (hormones)
How do plants respond to pathogens?
Hormones
Why are xylem and phloem bundled together?
Provide structural support for the plant
Human grow to a certain height and then do not grow any taller. Do plants grow in the same way? How do plants get taller? Explain.
No because Plants grow towards sunlight in order to make glucose.
Male reproductive organs
Stamen
Anther and filament
Female reproductive organs
Pistil
Stigma, style, ovary
Sequence from largest to smallest in terms of levels of organization
Flowering plant, reproductive system, flower, Stamen, anther, pollen
Thigmotropism (touch)
Moving away (-) or towards touch (+)
Hydrotropism (water)
Root moves towards water (+) or shoot moves away from water (-)
Phototropism (light)
Shoot moves toward light (+) or roots move away from light (-)
Geotropism/gravitropism (gravity)
Roots move toward Earth (+) or shoot moves away from Earth (-)
