Compare primary and secondary cell walls. Give an example of a cell that possesses a primary cell wall and a cell which possesses a secondary cell wall.

Primary cell walls can be supported by the presence of a secondary cw that sits inside of it (above the cell membrane). Outside of primary is the middle lamella. It is made of materials from inside the cell (1° also excreted by cell by proteins) may have several layers, and helps strengthen cells. Has more cellulose and less pectin than 1° and is lignified.

An example of a cell with a 2° cw is a schlerenchyma cell.
