Plant/Animal Cells Flashcards
What is the CELL WALL?
The cell wall strengthens the plant cell and provides support.
What is the NUCLEUS?
The nucleus is the part of the cell that makes new cells and contains genetic material (DNA). It also controls the cell.
What is the CELL MEMBRAIN?
The cell membrain is the barrier around the cell that controls what can go in and out of the cell.
What is MITOCHONDRIA?
The mitochondria is where respiration happens (a reaction that transfers energy).
What is CYTOPLASM?
Cytoplasm is a jelly-like substance in plant and animal cells where chemical reactions take place.
What is the VACUOLE?
The vacuole contains watery liquid called cell sap.
What are CHLOROPLASTS?
Chloroplasts are where photosynthesis happens. It also turns the plant green.
(photosynthesis means when plants make light into chemical energy)
