Why have a planning System?
Planning control is the process of managing the development of land + buildings.
Sustainable development balances economic development + environmental quality.

Aim: reduce burden on planning authorities
• Typically, small scale and not controversial
eg extensions, conservation,AONB, impermeable, classes
EZ’s / SPZ’s / SDO’s
EZ = financial and planning incentive - business
- rates discounts, simplified planning & broadband
SPZ = certain types of development - no application
eg vacant/ stalled
cant be on landscape/ecology designations
SDO = certain nature for a certain purpose
eg BREXIT - facilities for goods vehicles border dpt
