What is the Code of Conduct?

A
  • Applies to all members irrespective of grade / level.
  • members are governed by the code.
  • Central to professional life of members.
  • Incorporates bribery Act 2010.
  • Incorporates ethics and values and principals of good practice.

To maintain the status of the profession to the public
To protect the public and the profession

What happens if someone is found to be in breach of the code?

A

Breach of the code = unacceptable professional conduct / competence / criminal conviction

LI can enforce a breach of the Code through disciplinary proceedings.
LI members must report a breach to LI

What is the Royal Charter?

A
  • LI ‘granted Royal Charter status’ 1997
  • Member of the LI = protected by Charter

Only members and fellows entitled to use the title ‘Chartered member of the LI’

Gov has stat duty to consult the LI on Landscape matters

  • To promote research and education
