Can be impatient/ impulsive/ anger/ reactionary/ frustrated. A focus on self - “how this affects me, how this is good for me - what I want”. Speaks before thinking, regrets it later. Things in quick, impactful and dynamic ways. Says the things others may be afraid to say. Learn the best when there’s lots of stimulation. Like to learn while being active. Playful and direct. It can bother you when people are not being authentic with their words and voice. Your voice carries authority, power and change.
Mercury in Taurus
Enduring, Pensive, Practical
More interested DOING rather than saying. Experiences frustration when expressing things in the moment. Build things over a long course in time. They must do things in order to understand them. They are physical learners - tactile. This is a Mercury placement that looks at your actions to judge your character, not your words. Wanting to be self reliant. Really amazing determination. Can get hard on themselves when they can’t figure something out. They look for something that will verify what the next right step is. Very focused on what they see- what is happening in the physical world. Gifted at seeing the practical realties of the world. Need for security - there can be stress/thoughts around money/finances. They are observers/watchers. Want to move forward in a practical way. Want to be sure it’s the right ‘move” but can also be paralyzed by what the next “Right” step is - not wanting to take a big risk and not wanting to move too fast, but also feeling like they must solve it themselves.. Can be stubborn in your thinking and it can take a lot to change your mind. The highlight of that is you mean what you say and say what you mean. You speak with integrity. You learn best when you can go at your own pace - without someone rushing you. You take your time with communication and like to be prepared. You only engage actively with people you trust. Can over-think money matters. Plan, ground, connect to nature.

You think in a quick, curious and changeable way. You are an adaptable thinker. Mutable by nature - you are not here to stick to one way of thinking or communicating. You learn best with variation and freedom to try new things. You have a multitude of interests which may confuse other people. Let them be confused. You are quick witted and mentally active so find ways to connect with your body too. Speak in a curious, witty, sharp way. Love talking about what you’ve learned. Love exchanging ideas and perspectives with interesting people who spark your curiosity.
Very busy mind, a lot going on. multitasking. the energy of so many ideas, so many projects, so much to say/do - which can create anxiety and overwhelm. A sense of not being able to focus. Moving on to the next thing. Energy of starting a lot of new things, juggling a lot.
Mercury in Cancer
Quiet, sensible, adaptable
You think in an intuitive, sensitive, and sentimental way. Mercury and cancer is the energy of speaking, feeling, communicating, and interpreting information with a more feeling nature, an intuitive lens. You’re tapped into how something makes you feel, and that could be your response. You naturally think about how you feel and how other people feel - maybe focusing too much on the latter. It hurts when you feel your thoughts aren’t respected or praised. Remember that criticism is as personal as you make it. Heartfelt and heart-led communicator. You naturally take up space in a conversation. people often feel uplifted by your words and creations. They feel your warmth. The world needs your vulnerability and authenticity. Mercury in Leo is a confident energy, a confident speaker, perhaps a public speaker. And in its lower octaves, it can be very focused on what they want. “I want this. I want to create this. I want to do it my way.” And the energy of mercury and Leo in that lower octave can be unconsciously selfish or self involved. It can be unaware of how it’s coming across to other people. It can be unaware of other people’s needs.
They’re not interested in putting on airs or making themselves into other people. They are interested in authenticity. Those with Mercury in Leo can be very refreshing. What you see is what you get. Something about Leo Mercury makes it appear to be very young - childlike innocence.
Mercury in Virgo

Virgo Mercuries tend to try to do everything at once and often find that, incredibly, they are capable of it. Spreadsheets are finished and meetings are powered through in half the time that it takes everyone else. Very smart placement. You think in analytical, sharp, discerning ways. You love to analyze - topics, life people, yourself. You are a critical thinker. You question and probe. Be mindful of a tendency to pick holes in what others say or think. (and be mindful of doing that to yourself). You learn best when there is structure and consistency. People or topics that are lacking logic or reason can frustrate you. You are naturally practical. You look at all the details and the truth of a situation - which means you don’t love ambiguity! You speak in a purposeful, honest way. You are considerate of taking up too much space in a conversation. You come alive when you research and then share your findings.
Very good at figuring things out - wanting to be perfect. There can be guilt around when something is at its top expression “why haven’t I solved this…. what am I missing… why isn’t this working better?” you can see the little things that are wrong. You can see where things can be improved and be more efficient.
Mercury in Libra
Diplomatic, Amicable, Resourceful
You think in a fair, diplomatic, creative way. You naturally play the devils advocate - people who are too narrow in their thinking can frustrate you as you can see both sides. Be mindful of being slightly too accommodating and compromising at times. You learn best when there is a harmonious and beautiful environment. You prefer teachers and mentors who make space for different views and who take a more tactful approach. Mercury in libra is the energy of connecting with people, of conversations and things that can be discussed and shared. The lower octave of mercury in Libra is biting your tongue to keep the peace, being a people pleaser, saying what you know - what people want to hear instead of what they need to hear, not really expressing what you truly think. There can be analysis paralysis with mercury and Libra, where you just want to keep a conversation going, perhaps out of fear that you don’t want to hurt feelings, you don’t want to come across too strongly.
You don’t want to be not liked - Mercury in Libra wants to be liked, wants that win win. The people pleasing or the excessive comparison can also sink your energy. Also making decisions is tough for Libra because Libra knows that every decision carries consequences, and many cannot be undone
Mercury in Scorpio
Secretive, Passionate, and Exacting
Mercury in Scorpio can be very intuitive and tapped into energies that others are not aware of. You think in an intense, probing passionate way. You are interested the deeper, darker sides of life. No topic is off limits - except small talk. You want to delve beneath the surface. You can tell when something is up -but be mindfull of letting fear tell you a story and lead you to hide away. They don’t do anything they don’t care about and, when they care about something, they put their entire being into it. Scorpio Mercury asks a lot of questions, but tends to keep the motive behind the questions hidden. You speak in a penetrating and strategic way. Naturally private, you only open up to those you trust. Mercury in Scorpio, in its lower octave, can be very aware of power dynamics and control. It can be looking at what you need to get, what you want to get from others, what matters to you that you perceive you don’t have. And so, again, these are the lower octaves of Scorpio that can be envious or jealous, that can be very focused on what others have. Mercury in Scorpio can be overly passionate, almost too much for some people, and it can be driven by some unconscious fears around loss, whether that is loss of a friendship, relationship, person, loss of a resource, money, finances, loss of something, loss of power, loss of control.
Mercury in Sagittarius

Mercury in Sagittarius is a big thinker, a big talker, a big dreamer. You think in a visionary, big and philosophical way. You naturally think of the big picture vs the little details. You don’t want limits on your thinking or talking. it’s about freedom for you - freedom to discuss any topic that fascinates you. Freedom to explore life’s intellectual and spiritual possibilities. You love to learn about different faiths, cultures, spiritual beliefs and systems. You enjoy debating and exploring controversial topics. Playful banter and optimistic conversation lights you up! prone to blunt honesty, tune into your audience. you love to teach but remember - what is true for you isn’t necessarily true for everyone else. Remain curious rather than dogmatic. Lower octave - This is often one who has big opinions, big perspectives on world issues, on what’s happening, what is right, what is wrong. Mercury and Sagittarius can have unconscious judgments about what others should do or how one should live their life. Comes across like a know it all. They’ve had every experience, they’ve done everything they’ve read every book they know, every religion.
Mercury in Sag is not interested in getting to a destination swiftly. The journey itself is what drives them. It’s a detour-loving Mercury placement. Detours, after all, are where Sagittarius’ brilliance lives.
Mercury in Capricorn
Rebellious, Unencumbered, and Entertaining
You think in a cautious, practical and ambitious way. you don’t like when your mind feels messy. You like order and structure. You value efficiency and a step-by-step process. you speak with integrity and caution. you’re a great problem solver and create a steady environment for others to work through their challenges. However, you can lean towards pessimism and limited thinking. does it help to focus on the worst case scenario? is it helping or hindering you? you’re naturally skeptical and have a strong BS filter - you want proof and facts. you create an air of authority when you speak - but you may be too hard on yourself to believe this. Mercury in Capricorn is often very business minded and focused on the job at hand. But the lower octaves of mercury and Capricorn involve a coldness or a harshness. It can come across as being condescending.
It can come across as the energy of someone who will do what they need to do on their own, even to the point of ostracizing themselves from others, almost like a Scrooge or someone who doesn’t trust people, who doesn’t want to work with others, who doesn’t need relationships.
Mercury in Aquarius

Usually, Mercury in Aquarius is interdisciplinary. They may be accountants by day but tarot card readers by night, painters with a fascination with anatomy or physics, or even public speakers with a penchant for silent retreats. Mercury in Aquarius excels when they are allowed to bring two very different, almost contrasting fields of study together until a new idea is born.They appear to be reflective, but they are fiercely creative.
This is a Mercury that doesn’t do what they are told, but Mercury in Aquarius doesn’t usually make a big deal out of rebellion. They usually steadily push things until everyone else is ready for what they want to do. You think in an innovative, progressive, forward-focused way. you don’t want to be held to rules. without even trying you find yourself discussing inequality & whatever conspiracy theory sparks your interest! you learn best when you are able to discern what is true for you. you don’t like being told what to believe. you are curious and question most things. you love an open discussion and hearing different opinions but it takes a lot for you to budge on your beliefs and views. if something is unjust to you, it’s unjust. just remember that the freedom you value goes both ways - people will not always believe in the same thing as you and that’s okay. LOTS of creativity - a lot of things happening in your mind, a lot of conversations and ideas and projects and people - it’s exciting especially if it’s different and new. energy can be very fixated on where it’s going on, the people around you, on how it will affect people, on what matters, what doesn’t matter, on even how things should happen in a way that you think is best. And that is a gift of Aquarius, is that you’re good with having multiple things happening at one time, all swirling around. But what happens is that sometimes you get so fixated on these perceptions, ideas, thoughts, that they aren’t all correct for you.
Mercury in Pisces

You think in a compassionate, emotional, dreamy way. Sensitive & intuitive, you just know what to say to soothe someone. You are adaptable which means you can talk to all types of people - just be mindful of getting lost in other people’s beliefs. You learn best with optimism and room to flow. Your mind is creative and leans towards feels over facts. Your imagination is strong and you live for a good fantasy! which makes life so rich BUT it also means you get lost in what you hope will happen vs what is real. You are a natural storyteller and you often go on a winding journey with your words. You speak to people’s emotions and spirit. Overthinking? Embrace music and art. Pisces Mercury often relays information that it itself does not believe just to test the waters and see how other people might react. It’s a complex and almost cryptic Mercury where its own motives are often hidden from themselves until the goal they set out to do is reached. The line between truth and fiction interests them most. In fact, a good majority of Pisces Mercuries have had experiences in childhood when they were unheard or emotionally suppressed. They might have had trouble fitting in and felt like they had to hide parts of themselves.
Lower octave - in Pisces, it’s where you can go into a sense of depression and discouragement, where you feel powerless and you can feel like a victim. This is where you can feel overwhelmed and tapped out, like you don’t know what to do. You don’t know what steps to take. It’s a sense of literally being in the ocean and you’re just floating around.
And there isn’t anything firm to hold on to that mercury in Pisces can sink low when it doesn’t have a higher perspective that supports it. And this is often through a spiritual understanding or a connection to the universe that can support that mercury and Pisces moving through its internal emotional process.
