Planes, Positions, Axes Flashcards
Abduction
Move body segment away from body
Adduction
Move body segment towards body
Anatomical reference position
Erect standing position with all body parts, including the palms of the hand, facing forward, considered starting position for body segment movements
Anterorposterior axes
Imaginary line around which frontal plane rotations occur, towards front/back of body
Anterior
Towards the front of the body
Calibration
Comparing segment to an object of known length
Capture rate
Ability to take multiple pictures every second
Depression
Movement in inferior direction
Distal
Further from an attachment
Elevation
Movement in superior direction
Extension
Movement that returns body segment to anatomical position from position of flexion
Fixed reference
Movement relative to the environment/space
Frontal plane
Plane where lateral movements of the body/body segments occur, front/back
Hertz
Unit for electrical analysis of motion
Hyperextension
Rotation beyond anatomical position in direction opposite the direction of flexion
