Frontal Plane (Anteroposterior Axis) (AF)
Divides body into anterior and posterior segments (side to side movements)
Example: Abduction, Adduction
Transverse Plane (Polar Axis) (TEEPEE)
Divides body into superior and inferior segments (rotational movement)
Example: Rotation of extremities
Sagittal Plane (Horizontal Axis) (SH)
Divides body into left and right parts (forward and back movements)
Example: Trunk flexion and extension (sit-ups)
Horizontal Axis (Sagittal Plane)
One side of body to other (left to right)
Example: Trunk flexion and extension (sit-ups)
Polar Axis (Transverse Plane)
Vertical (running from head to toe)
Example: Rotation of extremities
Anteroposterior Axis (Frontal Plane)
Front to back of body (through belly button)
Example: Abduction, Adduction
