Competency Based Training
CBT is a training delivery approach that focuses on the competency development of the learner as a result of training

- Training is based on a curriculum developed from the competency standard
- Learning is modular in structure
- Training delivery is individualized and self-paced
- Training is based on the work that must be performed
- Training materials are directly related to the competency standards and the curriculum

- Assessment is based on the collection of evidence of work performance based on industry or organizational required standard
- Training is based on on- and off-the job components
- The system allows Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- Training allows multiple entry and exit points
