Identifying the problem.
What pupils are being asked to do.
Weighting heavily skewed in favour of one skill.
Also John Hattie’s #1 skill.
Underdeveloped vocabulary which is KNOWLEDGE rather than a skill.
To understand Literacy all staff need to know how this feels and how to encourage pupils to use this skill in the context of their subject domain.

OLD - ancient, mature, elderly, wise.
SUCCESS - triumph, victory, prosperity, achievement and attainment.
Vocabulary store is underdeveloped.
Don’t retrieve from that store with enough frequency.
Reading for pleasure.
Addictive gaming.
Humble book.
Not just poverty. “Time-poor”

Simple lesson/worksheets. Every teacher. Every subject. (2 or 3 + planned absence)
Teachers as mentors. Must be interested in the subject matter. TTT in English first.
