Placement Groups
A
Cluster -
grouping of instacnes in single AZ..
low network latency and high throughput
AWS recommends homogenous instances in clustered placement
Spread:
group of instances in different AZ
small number of critical instances
High availability - Individual critical ec2 isntacnes.
Partitioned:
group of instances in different AZ
Will ahve multiple instances sitting in partitions - HDFS,HFS,Cassandra clusters

Can you move an existing instacne in to a placement group
A
Yes. Before you move the instance, the instance must be in the stopped state. You can move or remove an instnnce using AWS CLI OR AWS SDK. You can’t do it via console yet.
