PROCEED WITH POWER OFF LANDING PROCEDURES
NOTE: The possibility of an engine fire in flight is extremely remote. The procedure given is general and Pilot judgement should be the determining factor for action in such emergency.

IF RESTART UNSUCCESSFUL - Carburettor Heat — SET
- Fuel Quantity & shut off valve — CHECK
- Mixture Control — OPERATE THROUGH RANGE
- Oil T’s & P’s — CHECK
If no fuel pressure is indicated, check tank selector position to be sure it is on a tank containing fuel.

- Spin Direction — CHECK
- Rudder — FULL OPPOSITE TO DIRECTION OF ROTATION
- Control Wheel — FORWARD
- Rudder — NEUTRAL WHEN ROTATION STOPS
- Control Wheel — EASE BACK AS REQUIRED TO SMOOTHLY REGAIN LEVEL FLIGHT ALTITUDE
WOSSSSS CHECKS
Wind — Ascertain the wind directions and approximate strength to identify the landing direction
Obstacles — Check the overshoot, undershoot, and surrounding areas for obstacles
Size — Ideally greater than 500m long, otherwise the longest available
Shape — Assess the shape and determine the landing path across it
Surroundings — Check for obstacles, civilistation, roads, water, livestock
Slope — Determine if any slope exists and if it will aid or impair the landing
Surface — Check if it is cultivated, rocky, boggy, irrigated
TROUBLE CHECKS
Carburettor Heat — SET
Fuel Quantity & Shut-Off Valve — Check (ensure fuel pressure indicating)
Mixture Control — Operate through the range
Oil T’s & P’s — Check
Switches — Check Magnetos Left/ Right/ Both
Throttle — Operate through the range and set 1/2 inch open
CARBURETTOR ICING
Carburettor Heat — ON
Mixture — ADJUST FOR MAX SMOOTHNESS
LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE
Oil Pressure Gauge— CROSS CHECKED
Oil Temperature — CHECKED
Power — REDUCED TO MINIMUM
PREPARE FOR POWER OFF LANDING
LOSS OF FUEL PRESSURE
Electric Fuel Pump — ON
Fuel Selector — SWITCH TANK TO FULLEST
