Privileges of a PPL

A

May act as PIC:
In connection with a business as long as it does not involve property or passengers for compensation.
For a charity or nonprofit in accordance to 14 CFR 91.146
May be reimbursed for operating expenses (fuel, oil, airport/rental fees)
Demonstrate an aircraft to a buyer if pilot is a salesman and has over 200hrs
May tow a glider or unpowered aircraft if they meet the 14 CFR 61.69
May conduct a production flight test for certification in the light sport category.

A

Class - classification within a category of similar operating characteristics (single-engine, multi-engine, etc)

What medical certificate is required for a PPL and how long is it valid for?

A

At least a third-class medical certificate.
If under the age of 40, the certificate is good for 60 months (last calendar day)
If over 40, good for 24 months (last calendar day)

Can you fly while taking allergy medication?

A

No, unless previously approved by the FAA. 14 CFR prohibits pilots to act as crewmembers under any medication that affects the body in a manner that would not be safe to fly.

A

14 CFR Part 67 for medical certification standards and Part 61 for obtaining a medical certificate.

A

a. Hold a vallid US Driver License
b. Hold or have held an FAA medical certificate after 7/14/06
c. Answer the Comprehensive Medical Examination Checklist
d. Get a physical axam by a state-licensed physician and have them complete the CMEC
e. Take the BasicMed online evaluation course and receive a certificate.
