What happens during a flight review?
Review of part 91 rules and a flight maneuver review in the aircraft which the pilot is proficient in that type and rating, 1 hour ground and 1 hour flight
What are required logbook entries?
Training for cert or rating / Currency for flight requirements (takeoffs and landings, flight review) / Logging of other flight (recommended but not required)
What currency is required to carry passengers? Tailwheel? Nighttime?
3 takeoffs and 3 landings within 90 days in same category and class of airplane you will use to carry passengers / Tailwheel and nighttime must be full stop landings
How is nighttime defined for the purpose of carrying passengers?
1 hour after sunset and 1 hour before sunrise
How soon after changing your permanent mailing address must you notify the FAA to still be able to fly?
30 days
What are the rules on flying with alcohol?
No flight within 8 hours of a drink, under the influence, while using any drug (unless listed by FAA), or BAC of .04%, no intoxicated passengers (unless under proper medical care or an emergency)
How long is a suspension for refusal or failure to take a BAC test?

What are the supplemental oxygen rules?
All passengers over 15000 ft., Over 14000 ft. for all crew, Over 12500 ft. for crew if more than 30 minutes
When is formation flight allowed?
Only when collaboration/communication occurs with each pilot who will fly in formation
What are rules for acrobatics?
None over congested areas, assemblies, of B/C/D/E surface airspace of an airport, none within 4 miles of an airway, below 1500 ft, vis below 3 sm (FAR 91.303)
When must parachutes be worn during flight? How often must parachutes be packed?
When roll exceeds 60 degrees or pitch exceeds 30 degrees / 180 days for synthetic cloth, 60 days for natural cloth
Can you drop something out of the plane?
Not if it risks damaging persons or property
What are the requirements for required crew members while during takeoff, enroute, and landing (and taxi)?
Must be at their station unless physiological needs or for operation of aircraft
What are seatbelt requirements for crewmembers?
Keep seatbelt attached at all times, shoulder harness during takeoff and landing (exception if crewmember can’t perform duties with should harness)
What are seatbelt requirements for passengers?
Attached during taxi, takeoff, and landing both seatbelt and harness
What are the requirements for seatbelt briefing?
PIC must brief passengers before flight and tell them to wear seatbelts.
What is a high performance airplane?
Engine with more than 200 HP
What is a complex airplane?
Retractable gear, flaps, and controllable pitch propeller
How can you be a PIC for either high performance or complex airplane?
You must receive proper instruction and an endorsement from a CFI in your logbook
When is an aircraft type rating required?
Turbojet aircraft and those weighing over 12,500 lbs
What is the speed limit over the USA?

What documents are required to be onboard for each flight?
Airworthiness Certificate, Registration Certificate, Equipment List, Weight and Balance, Operating Limitations (in POH)
Who is responsible for maintenance and maintenance entries?
The mechanic does the maintenance, the owner is responsible for making sure the maintenance and AD is done properly and logged appropriately, and the PIC is responsible for making sure the aircraft is safe for flight
How long is an airworthiness certificate valid for?
No expiration as long as its maintained properly and AD’s are followed within the required time
When is an aircraft required to have a 100-hr inspection? Annual inspection?
When it’s used to carry passengers for hire or instruction / If not used for hire
What is a progress inspection program?
FAA approved maintenance program that replaces 100-hr and annual inspections
How often do ELTs need to be tested and inspected?
Annually, every 12 months
Can pilots perform preventative maintenance? What FAR is that listed?
Yes / FAR 43
When do ELT batteries need to be replaced?
When 50% of battery life is drained or when ELT is activated for more than 1 hr cumulatively
How often does a transponder need to be tested and inspected?
Every 24 months
What incidents must be immediately reported to the NTSB per part 830?
Flight control system malfunction, Required flight crew member unable to perform duties, In-flight fire, aircraft collision in flight, overdue aircraft believed to be in an accident
How many days after an accident does a report need to be filed? Incident?
