pictorial cues Flashcards
relative size
relative size of objects to on another in our visual fields help us judge distance
height and visual field
the closer objects are to horizon line the futher they appear
linear persective:
parallels lines in our field appear to gradually come together, allows us to gauge distance
interposition
objects overlap with one another, we see objects being futher away when one shape is overlapping the other
texture gradient
we rely on texture of objects to judge how far away objects are
what are pictoral cues
they are monocular depth cues
monocular how we perceive the world through one eye
biological factors
TYPE OF MONOCULAR DEPTH CUES
ACCOMMODATION:
our lens in eyes bulge to see far away things
motion parallax: helps us see how far things are, the less objects in our visual field more the futher away they are from us
example: when your looking out the car from front window you appear to move slower, so you dont feel sick
