physiology of visual cortex (Vision III) Flashcards
1
Q
What is the function of the lateral geniculate nucleus?
A
The lateral geniculate relays the signal to the primary visual cortex. The nucleus itself is layers 1-6. P type ganglion cell: 3-6, color vision; M-type ganglion cells: 1 and 2, movement. Also alternate input.
2
Q
The fibers in the superior retinal quadrants represents the upper or lower part of visual field?
A
Lower
3
Q
What are the projection from primary visual cortex (V1) to visual association ares related to?
A
depth perception (V2, V3, V3a), color vision (V4), and motion detection (MT = middle temporal).
4
Q
What is akinetopsia
A
motion blindness
