physiological stress response Flashcards
what happens in Walter Cannon’s flight or fight response ?
Saliva= flow decreases
Eyes= pupils dilate
Lungs= quick deep breathing occurs
Skin = bloodvessels constrict :chills /sweat
Heart= beast faster/harder
Bowel= food movement slows down
Stomach= output of digestive enztmes decreases
blood vessels = blood pressure increases and velessels dilate
Muscles = become tense / trembling
what happens in Part A in Hans selye’s GAS
Alarm reaction: reaction to first exposure, resistance is diminished,
ig stressor is sufficiently strong (burns/extreme temp) death mat result
what are the 3 phases of the general adaptation syndrome ?
1) alarm reaction
2) stage resistance
3) ) stage of exhaustion
what are the physiological systems involved in the stress response?
the Nervous system
the endocrine system
the immune system
