Physics_IGCSE_Review Flashcards
Explain the difference between mass and weight.
Mass is the amount of matter in an object and is measured in kilograms (kg). Weight is the force acting on an object due to gravity and is measured in Newtons (N).
What is the formula to calculate speed?
Speed = Distance / Time
A car travels at a constant speed of 20 meters per second for 4 hours. How far does it travel?
Distance = Speed × Time
Distance = 20 m/s × (4 hours × 3600 seconds/hour) = 288,000 meters
Define velocity
Velocity is the rate of change of displacement with respect to time. It has both magnitude and direction
What is the formula for calculating force?
Force (F) = Mass (m) x Acceleration (a), or F = ma.
What is the unit of power?
Watt (W)
Define frequency.
Frequency is the number of complete oscillations or cycles per unit time. It is measured in Hertz (Hz).
What is the law of reflection?
The angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection, and both lie in the same plane as the incident and reflected rays.
State the three types of heat transfer.
Conduction, convection, and radiation.
