Physics (Torque) Flashcards
1
Q
Center of Mass
A
Mass of any object concentrated at a single point.
Formula: xcm= m1x1 + m2x2 / m1+m2
ycm = m1y1 + m2y2 / m1 + m2
2
Q
Torque
A
Apply force to center of mass of object will accelerate it.
Formula: Torque= F•r•sin θ
F= force
r= moment/lever arm
θ= 90 ° : F and r produce max possible torque.
θ= 0 ° or 180 °: no torque.
- Used in problems involving levers or balancing.
a. Tccw=Tcw
3
Q
Statics
A
- Study forces in play where things are still.
- for any force that is still: all of forces and torques must be balanced.
