37
Q

Explain how gap is closed before taking reading off diameter -

A

Turn thimble until small gap, close gap but turning ratchet. Must be done . like this because otherwise it may be crushed. Which will change its diameter.

38
Q

When switch is closed voltmeter reading is 397mV. Show resistance R is about 0.5

A
39
Q

Where resistance of x is 0.5

A

Do (0.5) /( 300 x 10^-3) =1.667

41
Q
A

Error bar for R was 1.9x longer at L=388nm than L at 209nm. Error bar for L stayed the same.
The horizontal error bars will all have the same widths as the uncertainty in R is constant.

42
Q

Outline how error bars are used to determine uncertainty in the gradient of a linear graph

A

Maximum and minimum gradients can be determined by gradients of line that pass through all error bars with one being the steepest line possible and the other being the shallowest. Use max and min to find the best gradient. % uncertainty = (best - worst gradient) / best gradient x 100%

43
Q

Explain why Reading in figure 6 shows that ohm-meter is set to range C

A

C because Reading is set to 2 decimal places
