Q

What are the steps in an investigation to determine the specific heat capacity

A

1–to investigate a solid material, you need a block of the material with two holes in it for the heater and the thermometer to going to
2-Measure the mass of the block and wrap it in an insulating layer to reduce the energy loss
Three – measure the initial temperature of the block and set the potential difference of the power supply to 10 V and turn it on and start the stopwatch
Three – take readings for the current and temperature every 10 minutes
Four –Calculate the energy transferred at each point using P =VI and E = PT
5-Use the equation 1/(gradient X massive block) Using a graph

Q

Required practical investigating how the length of wire affects the resistance

A

One – attach the crocodile clip to the wire level with 0 cm in the ruler
– attach the second photo clip to the wire E.g. 10 cm away from the original clip
– close the switch and record the current through the wire and the potential difference
– open the switch and move along another 10 cm and record the new length, current and potential difference
– repeat this for a number of different Lengths
-Plot a graph of resistance against a while and found your best fit

Q

Investigating the combinations of resistors in series

A

– Find for identical sisters
– make a series circuit with a resistor in it and check the current
– use this to measure the resistance of the circuit by making equation for the voltage is applied at the battery and the current in the circuit
– add another resistor in Series of the first and measure the Resistance
– repeat this for multiple steps

Q

Investigate the Combination of multiple resistors in a parallel circuit

A

Use the same equipment and built a parallel circuit
– measure the total current calculate resistance by using the voltage at the battery
– add another resistors in parallel with the first
– and see how the resistance changes and repeat this multiple times

Density required practical part 1 methods

– Irregular

A

For and an irregular solid object
– use a balance to measure the mass
-Submerge in an Eureka Can filled with water and measure the water displaced by the object
– record the volume of the water in the measuring cylinder – this is the volume of the object
– then divide the mass by the volume to get the density

Q

There is still quite practical part two

– regular

A

Use a balance to measure its mass
– if it’s a regular solid start by measuring its length width and height with an appropriate piece of equipment – Then work out its volume using the relevant formula
– And therefore find the density
