Physics Paper 1 (Questions) Flashcards
Should be attempted after content
The generator transfers 3.0kW of electrical power.
Calculate the time taken for the generator to transfer 2.16 x 107 J of energy.
Use the Physics Equation Sheet.
Give your answer in standard form.
- In the summer the power output from the hydroelectric generator is lower but the solar power output would be greater
- so less variation in electricity supply
Basically the graph is talking about how much power output we get out of the generator in a year, we can see over the months of June/July this would be quite low so in a remote village using just the generator wouldnt be enough - so the question is asking why installing a solar power system as well would mean this village gets more reliable electricity
Similarites:
* Same number of protons
* Same number of electrons
Differences:
* Different number of neutrons (or different mass number)
the time it takes for the number
of nuclei in a radioactive
sample to halve is 5700 years
- Half life is the time taken for activity to halve
- So if the sample of Fluorine-17 is 1/4 of its original activity it has been halved twice. 2 half lives. (A half of a half is a quarter)
- From the table in the question it takes 64.37s for Fluorine-17 to halve so it will take another 64.37 to halve again.
- So 64.37 x 2 = 128.74 s
Its halving the quickest, which means its emitting radiation very fast so its going to be the most dangerous
We have this on a flashcard - alpha radiation can only travel a few cm in air

Spring may become permanently extended, spring may break
- Something has Gravitation Potential Energy (GPE) when it is above the ground, the higher above the ground it is the more GPE it has (before gravity has acted on that thing)
- A spring has Elastic Potential Energy when it is being stretched or compressed (before the spring has pulled back)
