Physics/Monitoring/Anesthesia Delivery Flashcards
what are the vessel rich groups?
what percent of the CO goes to these groups
The vessel-rich group consists of the brain, heart, kidney, liver, intestines, and glandular tissue.
explain partition coefficient?
The other major factor determining anesthetic gas uptake is solubility. Solubility is described in terms of partition coefficients for various tissues. A partition coefficient is a ratio of dissolved gas, by volume, in two tissue compartments at equilibrium. For example, a fat:blood coefficient describes the volume of gas in fat and in blood when the gas is in equilibrium between these two substances. A high partition coefficient means that it will take longer to equilibrate between two substances because a larger volume is required to achieve equilibrium.
