Q

Describe isochronic conditions.

A

Isochronic is the same as isovolumetric. This means, the volume of the container doesn’t change. As a result, the volume on a PV graph doesn’t change. There is no work done because there is no area under the curve.

Q

Describe isobaric conditions

A

Isobaric means the pressure of the container doesn’t change. As a result, the volume on the graph changes and the work can be calculated by finding the area under the graph.

Q

Describe the consequences of gas expanding and compressing in relation to work.

A

As gas expands then work is done BY the gas, therefore the sign in positive.
As gas compressed then work is being down ON the gas. Therefore, the sign is negative.
