Physics Flashcards
What is the smallest S.I unit
Pico-
What is the largest S.I unit
Tera-
How to combine absolute uncertainties
When equation calls for X + X then we add the absolute uncertainties
How to combine percentage uncertainties
When equation calls for X ÷ X we add the percentage uncertainties or when it’s X × X we add the percentage uncertainties
The seven standard units
Candela, amperes, kelvin, kilograms, seconds, metres, MOLES
How to calculate percentage uncertainty
Do the absolute uncertainty ÷ by the original number ×100
How to calculate absolute uncertainty
Find the difference between the max value and the minimum value after the equation and divide by 2
How to add vectors
Place one vector on top of the other and then use trigonometry or Pythagoras to find the resultant vector, you can also separate the vector into the sum of it’s parts to find more vectors
Examples of vectors (magnitude and direction)
Momentum (mass X velocity), force, magnetic field strength, electric fields, velocity, displacement
Equilibrium
No resultant force on the object
How to find angles in vectors (right angle triangle so after you seperate one vector into the sum of it’s parts)
SOH CAH TOA
How to do non-perpendicular vectors
Cosine and sine rule
Examples of derived units (and definition)
Meter per second, mole per cubic meter (units derived from other units aka per)
Base units
Just normal units
