Physics Flashcards
Force
A force is a twist push or a pull
Characteristics of force
All forces have magnitude or strength all forces have direction up down north south forces are measured in newtons
Examples of forces
Magnetic force : a force exerted by magnets
Electric force : a force exerted by charged particles
Friction : a force that opposes motion
Contact force
Contact voices a force that resolves when two objects physically touch each other
Non contact
If voice that result even went to objects, do not physically touch each other a noncontact force also called an action at a distance force
Types of Contact forces
Applied force, spring force, drag, force, fictional, force, and normal force
Types of non contact forces
magnetic force, electric force, gravitational force
Applied force
Applied force is a force applied by a person or object that causes a second person or object to move
Friction
A force that opposes motion this force works in the opposite direction of moving object
Tension
A force created in a wire rope or string when two objects pull on that wire rope or string
Normal force
A force exerted by a surface on an object resting on that surface
Buoyancy
A force extracted by a fluid on an object that is immersed in that fluid
Gravitation force
A force of attraction between two objects
Electric force
A force exerted by electrically charged particles or objects
Magnetic force
À force exerted by magnets
