Physics Flashcards
What is the difference between an elastic object and an inelastic object?
Elastic: Will return to its original shape once the forces have been removed.
Inelastic: Will not return back to its original shape once the forces have been removed.
What is the definition of brittleness?
How much an object can shatter or crack when subjected to a shock
What is the definition of strength?
How much breaking stress it can with stand.
What is the definition of malleability?
How easily it can be formed into thin sheets.
What is the definition of ductility?
How easily it can be drawn into a wire.
What is the definition of Hooke’s Law?
Hooke’s Law states that the relationship between force and extension is directly proportional.
State the equation for Hooke’s Law
Force = Spring constant X Change in length.
