Posture
How an actor holds their body (upright, slouched, tense, etc.).
Gesture
A movement of the hand, arm, or body to express something.
Facial expression
Using the face to show emotion or reaction.
Eye contact
Looking at another character or the audience to communicate meaning.
Movement
How a character walks or moves across the stage.
Gait
The specific style or pattern of movement (e.g. limping, strutting).
Body language
Non-verbal communication using the body.
Levels
High, medium, or low positioning of the body to show status or emotion.
Stillness
Holding the body still to create tension, focus, or contrast.
Proximity
The distance between characters on stage, showing relationships.
Spatial awareness
Knowing your position and movement in relation to others and the set.
Timing
Controlling the pace of movement or reactions for dramatic effect.
Energy
The intensity or liveliness of physical performance.
Physical characterization
Creating a believable character using the body (e.g. age, personality, status).
