Movement
How actors get from place to place, and the quality of how they move, such as a fluid or graceful movement, or use of one part of their body, such as swinging a leg or raising a hand.
Body Language
Non-verbal communication that provides meaning to the audience or observer, suggesting emotions, moods or subtext.
Posture / Stance
How a character carries themselves, such as stiffly, off centre, slumped or defensive, standing with legs wide apart or weight on one hip.
Gestures
Movements, usually hands, arms, head or shoulder, such as nodding, waving, pointing or shrugging.
Synchronisation
Moving in unison with another character.
Gait
How a character walks, such as stomping, striding or strolling.
Eye Contact
Meeting eyes with another character or members of the audience.
Facial Expressions
Using the facial muscles to suggest emotions, such as smiling, or widening eyes in shock.
Agility
Flexibility and ease of movement.
Mannerism / Idiosyncrasy
Habitual movement typical of a certain character, such as someone who frequently wipes their brow, tightens their belt or puts one hand to their chest.
Pace
The speed of movement.
Handling Props
Using props in a way which says something about the character, such as gesturing with a walking stick or cradling a flask.
