Physical Science Flashcards
Radiation
When heat is transferred through space.
Convection
A heat transfer that happens in water or air where the warmer subject rises, and the cool air falls, creating a heat transfer.
Conduction
Heat transfer by touch.
Physical Properties
Properties that can be seen, touched, smelled, magnetically attracted, seen through, or bended.
Chemical Properties
Properties that can only be observed during a chemical reaction.
Chemical Changes
A change in an objects chemical makeup.
Average Speed
How far an object moves in a certain amount of time.
Velocity
the speed and direction of an objects movement.
Friction
When something moving touches something else and slows down due to the friction
Newton’s First Law
An object in rest tends to stay at rest, and an object in motion tends to stay in motion.
Newton’s Second Law
An object with more force takes more force to move, and an object with less force takes less force to move, and more force to stop.
Newton’s Third Law
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Force
A push or pull upon an object.
