Physical & Psychological Demands of Performance [2] Flashcards
Name two components of performance related fitness
reaction time, speed
How can motivation impact an athletes performance
Drive to be successful, Ensure that athletes train hard, keep interest levels high
Name a strategy athletes could use to enhance their motivation
Goal setting
Two strategies to improve preparedness for during practice/performance in a named physical activity
Pre performance routine
Visualisation
Two methods of physical fitness training used to develop performance for a named PA of your choice
Weight training, fartlek training
Three energy systems used by the human body
ATP-PC , Aerobic, Anaerobic glycolytic
The role of the ATP-PC system
Produces energy by breaking down creatine phosphate. Energy is produced at an explosive rate due to the simple anaerobic chemical reactions. The ATP-PC system is used for maximum intensity exercise that lasts between 0-10 seconds.
How can anxiety affect performance
focus and concentration
Difference bewteen health and performance related fitness
HRF = Refers to the components of fitness that are essential for maintaining good health, and reducing the risk of chronic disease.
PRF = Essential for optimising athletic performance in specific sports or physical activities.
Describe the principles of training
SPORT
Specific
Progressive
Overload
Reversibility
Tedium
How long do the aerobic and anaerobic system last
Aerobic = 2 minutes to a few hours
Anaerobic = 10 seconds to 90 seconds
Define periodisation
Periodisation is the process of dividing the annual training plan into a series of manageable phases (mesocycles and microcycles)
Describe the FITT formula
