Physical Protection Flashcards
Locks, keypads and biometrics
Access to individual workstations or server rooms can be physically stopped by locking doors, locking screens via the keypad or putting padlocks on machines, or by using biometrics
Placing computers above known flood levels
Placing machines on a second floor, to where flood levels are unlikely to rise, is a simple form of protection.
Backup systems in other locations
Backup does not protect data from loss or theft, but mitigates the effect if data is lost or stolen, as it provides a copy
Security Staff
Security staff are sometimes considered to be a form of physical security
Shredding old paper based records
If paper based records are not shredded, then there is a risk that confidential or sensitive data may be found and used by others.
